I’ve known The Quades since before they were The Quades. Way back in college I (Cate) was asked to photograph their wedding. It fell through due to a family friend stepping in and photographing their wedding as a gift to them, but they’ve always kept me as part of their lives and as their photographer. I did their engagement session, maternity photos, newborn #1, (missed newborn #2 due to being in Moldova for 2 years but we had many Skype dates to make up for it!), and then, of course, their family sessions. It’s been an incredible 7 years, and I absolutely love watching this family grow!
Anne likes to switch up the location for their sessions to keep the backgrounds constantly changing. When we scheduled this a couple of months ago, we expected to have the beautiful, bright leaves we normally have this time of year in Kansas. Mother Nature had other plans, so we headed somewhere fun: Deanna Rose Farmstead in Overland Park. This was a perfect location because it brought exciting rewards to the uncooperative (at first) Gavin, and fun, candid photos. Once he got going, though, he was great, and even wanted to take a goat home with him!
Maddy even got to experience a one room schoolhouse full of photos of old one rooms schoolhouses in the Johnson County area, practice writing the letter “D” on the chalkboards, and learn about how schools used to be.
I had so much fun with these family photos, and I hope you enjoy them!
(PS: If you’re looking for sewing, cooking, crafts, etc… Anne’s your lady!)
